Simplify life and amplify living with influencer Rachel Aust's visual guide to mastering the minimalist lifestyle.
Declutter and reorganize! Living with less contributes to a greater sense of fulfillment, contentment, and a more meaningful life. The minimalist lifestyle--focusing on scaling back your possessions and simplifying your life to just the essentials--helps you to achieve peace and purpose. Indulgences and excess often lead to discontentment and depression, but adopt minimal living, and you'll find that less is more:
• More time because you don't waste it caring for and organizing stuff
• More space because you don't fill it with objects of marginal value
• More money because you don't spend it on unnecessary things
• More clarity because your mind isn't bogged down by the clutter around you
• More joy because your energy is spent on experiences and connections
Using decision trees, flow charts, icons, and other graphics, Less shows how minimalism can be applied to any area of life--including home, wardrobe, decor, cooking, cleaning, finances, and time. Rachel Aust shows you that minimalism can be adapted to suit your own goals to help you achieve the joy of less!
Pare down to the essentials. A simple home, free of excess clutter, unused items, and extra furnishings, cuts down your cleaning time, makes rooms seem more open, and brings more peace to daily life. Simplifying your home doesn't mean having to get rid of everything. You set the rules. But you might find it useful to live by this concept: For any item to stay in your home, it must either contribute usefulness or beauty to the space.
CalmingStick to soft neutrals for the base color palette. |
Home-ySelect a few, well-chosen accessories to warm up your space. |
ComfortableFor accessories, avoid hard materials such as plastics and metal. |
ExpressiveUse lots of plants or art to create a welcoming environment. |
Digital DetoxingA digital detox is simply giving yourself a break from all of your digital devices at once. A digital detox allows your brain to calm down and relax while it's not being inundated with media. |
Meal PreppingFor meal prep, use containers that are reusable, stackable, microwaveable, and dishwasher safe. |
Gratitude JournalingThe simple act of writing down the things you're grateful for can reduce your stress levels, result in better sleep, and can increase your overall happiness. |
Take your time searching for quality items, and furnish slowly.

We based our evaluation of book condition on the following criteria:
* New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unread copy in perfect condition.
* Like New: An apparently unread copy in perfect condition. Dust cover is intact; pages are clean and are not marred by notes or folds of any kind.
* Very Good: A copy that has been read, but remains in excellent condition. Pages are intact and are not marred by notes or highlighting, but may contain a neat previous owner name. The spine remains undamaged.
* Good: A copy that has been read, but remains in clean condition. All pages are intact, and the cover is intact. The spine may show signs of wear. Pages can include limited notes and highlighting, and the copy can include "From the library of" labels or previous owner inscriptions.
* Acceptable: A readable copy. All pages are intact, and the cover is intact (the dust cover may be missing). Pages can include considerable notes--in pen or highlighter--but the notes cannot obscure the text.
